PROMOTION OF ACCESS TO INFORMATION ACT (PAIA) MANUAL FOR DR. GRANT BEKKER

This manual has been prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Promotion of Access to Information Act, 2000 (PAIA) and the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). It provides details on how individuals can request access to information from Dr. Grant Bekker, a private healthcare practitioner.

  1. GUIDE OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION (SAHRC)

The SAHRC has compiled a guide to assist individuals on how to exercise their rights under PAIA. This guide can be accessed on the SAHRC website at www.sahrc.org.za.

  • Correspondence with medical aid providers
  1. PROCESS OF REQUESTING ACCESS TO RECORDS

Requests for access to records must be submitted in writing using Form C, available from the Information Regulator’s website. Requests should include:

  • The identity of the requester
  • The specific information requested
  • The reason for the request

Requests can be sent to:

  1. FEES PAYABLE

A request fee may be charged, as per the PAIA regulations. The requester will be notified of any applicable fees before processing.

  1. GROUNDS FOR REFUSAL

Access to records may be refused based on:

  • Protection of personal information of third parties

  • Endangerment of an individual’s safety
